The Story of Charlotte Harber Art

By Miami Publicist Caitlin E. Slayback :: Gallery 212 Miami :: Wynwood Art District

Charlotte’s unusual sense of creation and mixture of materials inspires her one-of-a-kind pieces. Wooden doors and old signs act as her canvases as she conjures up direct inspiration from their abandoned and weathered state. Painting them rejuvenates their purpose and allows for recyclable art to emerge. The addition of paint gives this material a unique and somewhat tattered appearance looking as if it is all about to fall apart when in all actuality, it has only just come back to life.

The artist recycles brown paper bags, cheese cloth, fabric, uses many layers of paint, and various types of materials to bring new life to the old. The procedure is a creative process with an outcome that is always a surprise, especially to the viewer. To her, this process is just as important as the result. This allows her to form a real connection with her work by continuing this very developed course of creation. The crumbled and torn to her resemble an abandoned man made piece of material waiting to be discovered and brought to its next phase of service.

The inspiration to create is in turn the inspiration for the unique ideas for titles of her pieces. Trends of shapes like circles and coloration themes give her work a unique reflection of the artist.

“I am very drawn to circles because in my mind they represent the circle of life and mean a sense of purity, something kind of like hope, even if I have to sneak it in with a tiny dot here or there where it completes the journey of the story of Charlotte Harber Art”
